Removing part of the thyroid, taking daily medications or radioactive iodine therapy are some of the potential treatments for this problem.

3. Diet: The food that you feed your cat also can be the reason for hair loss in them. Certain ingredients may cause allergies in cats over time. In order to know what exactly is causing the problem, your vet may put your cat on a trial of food elimination for more than 2 months.

4. Ringworm: Ringworm is a very dangerous and contagious infection caused by fungus. Ringworm normally appears in patchy and circular shapes and can cause hair loss among cats. The infected areas will turn to red color and your cat may feel itchy in those areas. If you have other pets at home, you should keep them away from the affected cat. You would also have to disinfect all the places your cat came into contact with.

5. Fleas: Apart from causing itchiness in your cat, flea bites can also cause hair loss. This kind of reaction can develop gradually. In order to alleviate inching in your cat, a combination of steroids and antihistamines will be given, it will also help them to grow their hair back. You will have to apply an effective flea control system for the environment of your cat.

6. Lice: There are varieties of lice. Lice that affect cats lead to regular sings such as rough coat of hair and itching. As the situation gets bad, hair will begin to fall out and you will notice crusts developing in the areas affected. Giving medicated shampoo bath to your cat should be helpful in getting rid of this problem.
