If you have a pet or a number of pets, you are an animal-lover! So, let me tell you about an event that will interest you. It is the ZooFest that is to be held at Edmonton Valley Zoo in Edmonton’s 133315, Buena Vista Road in Alberta, Canada. The ZooFest is a fundraising program held each year for the conservation of animals. If you love to have a close look at animals, their habitats, and everything related to them, you will certainly love this event. There are also chances for you to bring home some unusual pet to add to your collection!
As last year’s event was a bit disturbed due to rainy and windy weather, this year ZooFest will be held on 23rd June, i.e. earlier than usual. The timing will be from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm. Apart from animals, there are plenty of other things that will beckon you at the Fest, including acrobatic performances, delicious foods and wine, for $75. Last year’s aerialist performers of Firefly Theatre too are going to try their luck this year, because last year they couldn’t perform due to unpredictable weather.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo is run by Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It is open on 364 days of the year, close only on Christmas. It houses over 350 rare exotic as well as native animals. Its Makira Outpost, which is an island inhabited mainly by lemurs is famous. It has been named after the Makira forests in Madagascar. The Arctic Shores is also a newly opened element of the zoo, which is inhabited by seals, arctic foxes, sea lions and ground squirrels. And the Zoo also contains a wonderful female Asian elephant named Lucy, who has painting skills.
So, the ZooFest will give you a lot to have fun. There will be silent and live auctions, food and wine, tours to the new veterinary hospital and new Arctic Shores, and chance for you and your kids to become Zookeepers or vets and get close with the lovable creatures of the zoo, like tortoises, meerkats, squirrel monkeys and red pandas. The silent auction will present over 100 items to bid upon and the live auction which is to be held later in the evening will feature an art-piece from Lucy, along with many other wonderful exhibits.
