A Cat tree or climbing post and some litter box are the furniture that you must buy before getting a cat to your home. You should train your cat on scratching post rather than your furniture. When you buy climbing post, make sure that it is strong. If it falls over when your cat tries to use it, your cat may get afraid of it and it will be a waste of your money. When the cats get afraid of something, they never use it again or even go near to that. Make sure that the climbing post has several levels so that your cat finds something to jump onto and curl up and sleep there. Cats like being high, they feel safe there. You can also leave your cats to roam outside if your neighborhood is safe. Cats are very curious by nature and they love to smell different things. If your leave your cat outside, make sure that your cat is up to date with all vaccinations. Put some form of identification to your cat, put a collar with tag or a microchip on it.
