Dog Shampoos and Conditioners
You love to bathe your dog, right? And it can be even more fun, when you have the right dog shampoo. A soap-free shampoo is the best for your dog. It is not only good for the pet, but also good for the environment. In soap-free shampoos too you can have a variety like natural shampoos which don’t have any chemical but all natural herbs, tear-free shampoos to protect the dog’s eyes, oatmeal shampoos which are good for itchy and irritated skin and medicated shampoos which are generally prescribed by veterinarians if your dog is suffering from allergies or some other skin problem.
Just like you use conditioners, you can use them for your dog too, to keep his coat in excellent shape. Conditioners are to be applied after shampooing, and some of them are to be rinsed off, while some are to be left on the coat. But you need not use them every time you bathe your dog.

If your dog is hairy, he will need a haircut. If he is short-haired, he won’t need it and if he has medium hair he will need it occasionally. These come in a wide variety, because dog’s hair types are so much varied. You should identify your dog’s hair type and choose the brush or comb. You can even use more than one type of brush, depending upon the hair type. There are bristle brushes which are good usually for any hair type, rakes and matbreakers which should be used for severely tangled hair, wire pin brushes for medium to long hair, slicker brushes used for medium to long hair with tangles, flea combs for fleas and shedding tools which have special teeth to remove surplus hair from double-coated breeds and decrease shedding.
Nail Trimmers
You should use these carefully or tell an adult in the home to use it. In the meantime you can learn using them. They have to be used with right technique. They too come in a variety like guillotine trimmers which have replaceable blades, claw-style trimmers which have springs in them and scissor-like trimmers which are best for dogs with delicate small nails. Also remember to keep a product like styptic powder handy, in case you cut the skin surrounding the nails of your dog and it starts bleeding.
Dog Ear Products
As you take care of dog’s coat to make it look beautiful and nails so that they shouldn’t hurt you, you should also take care of the dog’s ears. There are ear cleansers, cotton balls and pads, ear medicines and ear powders. Learn to use them and apply them on your dog as and when necessary to keep his ears problem-free.
