Pet grooming (click here) is important – for pets, pet owners and for pet businessmen. Grooming courses, styles, kits are various and many useful information about these topics are available even online. But, what is meant by “pet grooming”? Of course, it depends on the pet – even different dog breeds undergo different treatment and procedures. Pet owners often leave pet grooming to professional pet groomers. However, there are still some grooming tips and guidelines to be followed at home to keep our pets happy, healthy and pretty.
While dog grooming it is recommended to check out dog’s ears periodically. If the dog has droop ears, they can be quite susceptible to waxy ears, mites and fungus. Therefore, at least once a weak, dog’s ears should be cleaned and checked. In case of an infection, infected ears can lead to some further complications and we surely do not want that to happen. Clipping nails is a very important part of pet grooming for dogs. This treatment should be done once per two or three weeks. Even though if your lovely puppy will not especially enjoy this treatment, you should start clipping his/her nails from the first days at your house. This is the only way to help your dog get used to the dog grooming process. In order not to hurt your dog and not to let him experience pain while nail clipping, clip his/her dark colored nails in small cuts. This way the chance of cutting into the quick and painful bleeding is reduced.
Hair brushing is the most intensive part of pet grooming for dogs. Your dog will love it if you do it properly. It is very important not to press too hard with wire slicker brushes, because that way you can avoid scraping the skin and causing brush burns. Encountering mats is possible while hair brushing dogs. What should be done? The end tooth of the comb should be inserted into the mat and this way the mat should loose. But, if this does not work, cutting out the mat should be considered – better than causing your dog unnecessary pain.
